K-Laser Therapy: Using K Laser for Musculoskeletal treatment

Muscloskeletal injuries come in many forms.

Tendons, ligaments and muscles can all be strained torn and ruptured and this results in pain and can be hard to get to recover.

The K laser is a fabulous tool for speeding up the recovery of these types of injuries and getting you back moving again.

How does K Laser fit into my treatment plan?

Laser therapy can be a very helpful treatment option for a number of different conditions.

When come to treating tendon, bone, ligaments and muscle injuries, laser therapy can really come into its own.

We don’t typically use laser therapy as the sole treatment option for these kinds of injuries, rather it is another piece of the puzzle that helps us get you back moving painlessly again.

It is often part of the earlier portion of your treatment while we are trying to reduce your pain and discomfort before we begin strengthening and reconditioning you to return back to the activities you enjoy.

How does Laser therapy work for musculoskeletal injuries?

Laser therapy works by using specific infrared frequencies of light that the body responds to, to stimulate:

  1. Increased cell energy and enhanced recovery speed
  2. Increasing oxygen levels to the cells to help feed them for their higher energy requirements as they recover faster
  3. Increased blood flow to carry all the oxygen around
  4. Stimulating healing at skin level and killing germs on the skins surface

This process is universally beneficial to bones, tendons, ligaments muscles and tendons and as such can help treat any injuries affecting any of these types of tissue.

This makes K laser a wonderfully diverse tool. You can read a more in depth description of this in our first blog in this series.

What conditions can Laser therapy help with:

Our podiatry team is trained to use the K Laser therapy unit to treat many musculoskeletal injuries and conditions including:

How many treatments will I require?

This varies quite a lot and will depend on the severity of the injury and how chronic it is.

Most injuries that are more recently will require weekly treatments for 3-6 sessions.

Chronic injuries like osteoarthritis and long-term complaints tend to require more sessions and it can be for 4-5 appointments before improvement really kicks in.

What does K Laser treatment cost?

We charge $39 dollars on top of our consult fee for use of the laser.

Where can I get k laser therapy?

At Hurst Podiatry, we actually have two K laser therapy units available at our clinic in Healesville and Mooroolbark. We’ve chosen to invest in two of these units because of the many different ways they can be used to treat conditions and stimulate healing in the body.

We can also make them available at our Croydon and Kilsyth podiatry clinics too, so if you’re in Melbourne’s East we can help you.

Book in to see us by booking online here or calling us on 03 5901 2216.
